Another Christmas is upon us and the year seems to have flown by. But before I turn to that I would like to offer my thanks to two orchestras.
On Sat 26th November I visited the Kings Hall, Newcastle University to hear Nick Byrne play his beautiful cello. He played the Dvorak Cello concerto Op 104 and as an encore treated us to a flurry of Bach. Nick is a player who I have worked with and I absolutely love and admire in buckets what he can do with his cello. He is an incredible performer and player and it was an absolute pleasure to hear him playing in the NE with the renowned New Tyneside Orchestra.
Thank you for a fabulous concert!
On Friday 2nd December I attended the Sage Gateshead to hear The Halle. Having worked with one of their players Piero Gasparini, who I had a quick catch up with beforehand, I was so looking forward to the performance. Now I’m not an emotional person (or so I thought!) but there wasn’t a dry eye in the house!! We heard Wagner, Barber and Tchaikovsky and the orchestra created something very special.
When everything comes together and the quality of the playing and the sound produced emulates something very rare, a moment of joy, which in this instance was an evening of joy.
I haven’t heard anything like it for a long time. Sadly I picked up flu and didn’t surface for 7 days……….but it was worth it!!
So, as 2022 draws to a close I would like to thank you all for trusting me with your precious instruments and believing that I do make a difference. It’s such a pleasure working with you all.
MERRY CHRISTMAS and a HAPPY NEW YEAR
